Dish To Pass

In high school, I spent many long spandexed Saturdays at volleyball tournaments.  While I loved playing volleyball, it was not the highlight of my day.

The best part was the food.  An amazing potluck feast awaited us after each match.  There was one rule: our meals had to be "healthy."  Sometimes a rebel would bend the rules by bringing whipped cream fruit dip, or something.

At one tournament, my dad brought our "dish to pass."  He brought each player a king size candy bar.  Since he was such a rule-follower, each candy bar had carrots and broccoli Scotch taped to the package.

Delish.

P.S. I love you

Two of my roommates have taken to note-writing instead of speaking.  It is very interesting.

"Don't use hot water in the washing machine.  It wastes money."

"Turn off your Christmas lights if you really want to save money."

"Don't use this towel to dry your hands."

"Fine...don't use MY towels to wash dishes."

"Fuck ya."

"I hate you." etc.

All while publicly maintaing a relatively affable demeanor.

My third roommate left a note yesterday:
"If one more person in this house writes a note, I am going to start it on fire and let it burn on their bed."

Ahhh, college.

Photo Op

For whatever reason, my backyard was often the hotspot for homecoming and prom pictures in my neighborhood.  We would plaster smiles on our faces and line up while our parents snapped pictures from every angle.  I got my picture taken with the same "neighborhood kids" every year.

I loved watching my dad take the pictures with his little disposable camera.  He always pulled each girl to the side and forced them to get a picture alone

"You two are probably going to break up soon and then you're going to be mad that you have 1,000 pictures with this joker."

Quilting

Sometimes I'd like to write a blog entry, but I don't have a topic.  This is a Kathleen-requested entry.

My mom attended a quilting extravaganza last weekend.  It featured Kaye Woods' quilting expertise and Kathleen dressed in camo and deer antlers.  My mom glanced away from the stage for a minute, only to look up and see Seamstress Marianne on stage.  Showing Kaye what's up.

Sounds fun.  Aside from the quilting part.

Kathleen, you're the shit, sister.

I LOVE all the Quinlans on Facebook right now.  I am not sure how this infestation happened...

Ice Cream

Last summer Michael was enjoying some ice cream at the canoe livery.  He offered my dad a bowl, but my dad declined.

"You don't like ice cream?"

My dad took some ice cream and rubbed it on Michael's arm.

"How's that taste?" He asked.

Apathetic Alice

Okayy...I might not hate school.  But I am entirely devoid of any enthusiasm for it.  I have to swallow my laughs when a prof. dares assign me homework.  Read chapter 8?  Really? Hahahahhahaa.  Yeah, right.

Laughing at a prof. is better than kicking the shit out of him (or seriously considering kicking the shit out of him).  Those days happen too.  I hope blogging that doesn't count as a "threat."  For all I know, my blog is incredibly popular in the e-world.  The administration could be reading this.

I've spent the first hour of my graphic design class listening to my iPod and printing off pictures of my dad (free color printing!).  And now blogging.  I suck.  But I don't care.  :)

Current Track: Bob Dylan, Trying to Get to Heaven.  Bob Dylan does not have a great voice.  But, he makes some great music.
